Plane Tickets

Early January I set the date for buying my airline tickets. This would be the moment of no return concerning the trip to Nepal. Once I gave my credit card number to the travel agent I was on my way. I sent an e-mail to my wife’s friends Vicki, the travel agent, asking if she could check the price of tickets to Kathmandu, Nepal. The best price either of us could come up with was over $2,000. She put us in touch with the Sacramento based agency from which she had learned the ropes. These folks found me a ticket for under $1,500. I gave her the go ahead and the rest is history. I now have the hard copy tickets.

Immunizations

This really wasn’t any fun. There were six shots.

Tetanus
Polio
Hepatitis A
Typhoid
Meningococcus
Pneumococcal

I felt like I had the flu for a few days.

Then the Doctor told me about the "four P’s" (Packaged, Processed, Peeled -as in bananas-, and Piping Hot.) Best not eat or drink anything else. No ice cubes, bottled water and juice only, boil your water and wash with a wash cloth. Brush your teeth with bottled water. And best not to eat meat at all. If you do all that, you won’t get too sick.
