Note from Irwin

We received a brief email from Irwin. He let us know all is going well and he and Jack are very busy setting up for the technician training.

Monday, April 9th was the official inauguration of the training. This ceremony was held at the Hotel Himalaya. Jack was allotted 10 minutes of this 4 hour event to make a speech in front of several high-ranking officials from the Government of Nepal. The whole ceremony was broadcast on local television.

One Busy Week

Greetings from the beautiful country of Nepal. I have been so busy that it is hard to find time to write. Irwin and I make a good team, but it has been a series of very long, exhausting days to get ready for all we have to do here. We start at 5:00 am and then work until midnight to get things ready for the next day. Somewhere in the middle, I teach for eight hours.

My students love to learn and they can follow anything I teach but there are some practical limits on the availability of resources. However, I feel that I have made a good connection with them and that we are doing so much good and making a change in the lives of the people of Nepal. They got a big kick out of seeing me on TV with the ministers.

I have moved to the guest cottage of the Danish government for the duration of my stay. There is a professor from India staying here. We have talked and taken vegetarian meals together. Tomorrow is my first day off and I plan to go in to the market and see some sights.

So far I have shot eight hours of video and taken 500 pictures. I can't wait to share them. I know I will be coming back (next time as a team with my wife, Chrys) and we can be even better prepared to make a difference.

It is late and sleep is calling to me.

Jack
